What's New for the 2025 BMW 550e xDrive?

The impressive BMW 5 Series launched its latest generation in 2024, so everything about the 2025 version is fresh and modern. While most aspects of the 5 Series are unchanged in 2025, BMW has introduced the 550e xDrive. This is a plug-in hybrid version of the 5 Series that is available with the same standard features and options as the other trim levels.

The 2025 BMW 550e xDrive PHEV uses a turbo 3.0-liter, inline-six gas engine along with a battery-driven motor. This powertrain produces 483 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. The 550e xDrive also includes a standard sport-tuned suspension and upgraded brakes. In addition, this is the only 5 Series trim level that is available with the optional Dynamic Handling package. This package adds rear-wheel steering and an adaptive suspension system to your BMW.

The 5 Series is a sport sedan, and it continues to show off the same look as the refreshed 2024 version. This midsize model has a long, gracefully sloping hood and a curved nose. The chrome-outlined, kidney-style grille is styled with a glossy black finish and standout columns. The slender headlights trend dramatically to the rear for a captivating touch, and the lower air vents are sleek and triangular. Standard exterior features on the 550e xDrive include 19-inch wheels, a panoramic sunroof, black trim and LED headlights. Options includes cornering headlights, a panoramic glass roof, up to 21-inch wheels, and more.

The standard cabin and safety features available for the 2025 BMW 550e xDrive PHEV are an integrated navigation system, a Harman Kardon sound system, a 14.9-inch touch display screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a dual-zone auto climate control system, a digital instrument cluster, a wireless charging pad, forward collision mitigation, a blind-spot warning system and lane keeping assistance.

Optional packages are available to add heated seats, adaptive cruise control, remote start, a head-up display, enhanced parking assistance, a heated steering wheel, voice and gesture controls, power rear sunshades, Highway Assistant, lane keeping, a Bowers & Wilkins sound system, and more.
