What’s New for the 2026 BMW i4?

The head-turning BMW i4 delivers the luxury and premium engineering you expect from the brand in an all-electric format. Designed after the 4 Series, the i4 offers the functionality of a four-door sedan along with a coupe-like profile. This popular model received extensive updates in its 2025 model year. This year, BMW continues to move the dial with improvements to its engineering.

Specifically, the top-of-the-line 2025 M50 trim level is now called the M60. It has been fine-tuned to deliver an additional 56 horsepower. This delivers 592 horsepower. The base system has a single electric motor that generates 335 horsepower. The mid-level trim features a dual-motor layout that delivers 396 horsepower. For all trim levels, the 2026 i4 has a new inverter. This improves the battery’s range to 318 miles on a full charge for the base engine system and 278 miles for the M60. With home charging, the battery can be recharged in 10 hours.

The boldly styled 2026 BMW i4 features a smoothly sloping hood and a curved, road-hugging nose. The tall, yet slender grille features a tight-mesh pattern. Grand air inlets with horizontal crossbars flank the grille. Above the air vents, the dramatically tapered and angled headlights sport a pair of angled LED accents. The wheels have a machined look with open-spoke triangular elements. An angled air inlet is placed near the front fender and directs airflow to the rear, below deep contouring on the door panels. Exterior features include a hands-free liftgate, a sunroof, rain-sensing wipers, a rear spoiler, and up to 19-inch wheels.

Features available on the i4 vary by trim. Some of the features offered in 2026 are wireless smartphone charging, heated front and rear seats, a head-up display, a Harman Kardon premium sound system, leather upholstery, a driver recorder, an automated parking system, a 360-degree camera, a 14.9-inch touch display screen, front and rear parking sensors, auto emergency braking, keyless entry, a keyless engine starter, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and several additional features.
