For Nashville-area auto shoppers with an eye on luxury, only models from leading brands will do. Top-of-the-line options include the 2021 BMW X7 and the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLS. These full-size luxury crossovers have premium features and exciting capabilities. However, their differences may surprise you, and these differences could influence your model selection.
Exterior
The 2021 BMW X7 has the legendary exterior styling that will undoubtedly appeal to you. Its look has classic BMW elements, such as a two-part grille and a confident profile. Its unique personality is defined by balanced contours, accent lines, and angles throughout the exterior. This model also has heated and power-adjusting side mirrors, a rear skid plate, raised roof rails, fog lamps, and other features that you need for a wonderful experience on the road. The exterior of the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLS, on the other hand, has modest styling with smoother doors and a flatter surface across the hood. The GLS has the Mercedes-Benz signature grille with horizontal bars running through it. Chunky LED headlights are separated from the branded grille.
Interior
The interior of the BMW X7 is loaded with premium materials and features. Features include available captain’s chairs with heat across all three rows. The front seats also have a massaging function. The Live Cockpit feature has a 12.3-inch digital display screen. Additional features are a dual-pane panoramic moonroof with an LED Sky Lounge, an iDrive controller in the center console, a premium audio system, and more. In the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLS, an elongated display screen spans across the driver’s gauge area and the top of the center stack. This long screen offers control over the sound system, the navigation system, the driver’s gauges, and other elements. Like the X7, the GLS has leather seats with heat and accent lighting.
Performance
The 2021 X7 is available with three powertrains. The top two options are the 4.4-liter, TwinPower Turbo V8 that produces 523 horsepower and the Alpina Bi-Turbo V8 variant that gives you 612 horsepower. In comparison, the GLS is only available with two powertrains. These are an I-6 turbo that generates 362 horsepower and a bi-turbo V8 that produces 483 horsepower.
