As you search for a premium crossover SUV with sophisticated styling and excellent capabilities, your attention may naturally fall on the 2023 BMW X1 and its sibling, the X3. The X1 is a subcompact crossover at the front of BMW's crossover SUV models. The X3 is a small crossover that is BMW's top seller. The sales team at BMW of Nashville South works diligently to support our customers with their model selections, so you can count on us to help you compare these impressive models.
Performance
For 2023, the BMW X1 has one trim level with one engine option. It receives 241 horsepower from a four-cylinder, turbocharged 2.0-liter engine. This powertrain links to all-wheel drive and an automatic seven-speed, dual-clutch transmission. In addition, adaptive suspension dampers and paddle shifters are available with the optional M Sport package. In comparison, two engines are available across the 2023 X3's three trims. The first two trims are outfitted with a four-cylinder, turbo 2.0-liter, 248-horsepower engine. This system includes an auto eight-speed transmission and rear-wheel drive. The other engine available exclusively in the top trim is a mild-hybrid V6, 3.0-liter, 382-horsepower system. It has the same eight-speed auto transmission, which combines with all-wheel drive.
Appearance
The smaller X1 boasts an upright, confident profile with purposeful descent across the hood and roof. The crisp accent in the center of the side doors adds personality to the X1. The front of this BMW crossover displays deep air intake ports and a curved chrome bar that supports the kidney-shaped grille. In addition, the headlights are slightly triangular, and they are accented by hook-shaped LED bars. The 2023 X3 has two accent lines on the sides, and an angled air intake near the front fenders accompanies these. In addition to having a kidney-style grille, the X3's nose is defined by C-shaped light ribbons in its headlights and smaller, sporty air vents.
Features
The 2023 X1 and the 2023 X3 have several of the same optional or standard features. These include a wireless charging pad, augmented reality navigation tech, rear and front parking sensors, automatic braking, a head-up display, a 360-degree camera, hands-free driving, adaptive cruise control, a heated steering wheel, and heated front seats. If you opt for the BMW X3, your crossover may also come with a Hardon Kardon sound system, remote engine start, leather material, and a drive recorder.
