BMW Electric Vehicle FAQs

BMW's impressive line of electric vehicles (EVs) includes sleek cars and SUVs, with more models set to launch soon. If you're considering buying a BMW EV, you're not alone. At BMW of Nashville South, we understand that many first-time EV buyers have questions. We've compiled the most frequently asked questions below, and our associates can provide additional information and guidance.
What all-electric BMW models are available?
BMW currently offers three all-electric models: the BMW i4 Gran Coupe, the BMW iX SUV, and the BMW i7 sedan. Other all-electric models, such as the i5 sedan, are set to launch soon.
How long does it take to charge a BMW EV?
BMW EVs can be charged using three primary methods: at-home, Level 2 public, and DC fast charging. At-home and Level 2 chargers offer comparable charging times, providing up to 30 miles of range per hour. With DC fast charging, you can replenish the battery for a 108-mile range in 10 minutes. Even using a standard power outlet, you can charge your EV's battery at a rate of four miles of range per hour.
Does servicing an EV cost more?
The maintenance requirements for EVs differ from those of gas vehicles. As a result, owning an all-electric vehicle could save you time and money on maintenance. For example, EVs don't require oil changes and other services commonly required for gas vehicles.
