The BMW X3’s third generation was introduced in 2018 with exciting improvements to its style, features, and abilities. As you get ready for your next crossover SUV purchase, you may be eager to learn about the changes that have been made to the X3 more recently. Between the 2021 and 2022 model years, you will notice several important updates throughout the trim options. Our BMW of Nashville sales reps are available to help you uncover the improvements and to assist with your SUV selection.

As a sport activity vehicle, the BMW X3 is engineered to provide you with an excellent experience on the road. The base trim level for both 2021 and 2022 has the same TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder, 2.0-liter engine that generates 248 horsepower. However, the M40i trim level for 2022 gets an upgraded engine. This is a mild-hybrid six-cylinder engine that comes with a high-end starter-generator.

There are also exciting differences between the 2021 and 2022 BMW X3’s exterior styling. Specifically, BMW has updated the headlights and rear lights for differentiation. In 2022, the X3’s rear lights have a key-like shape with a bold LED light ribbon. The headlights have a two-part design with a scalloped appearance. The other characteristics and features on the exterior of the X3 are identical for 2021 and 2022. These features include deep side-panel definition, heated side mirrors, a sunroof, keyless entry, lower-body molding, and more.

The differences between the 2022 and 2021 X3 versions continue inside their cabins. The Driving Assistance Package that is found in both model years has an additional feature in 2022. This is Traffic Jam Assist. All other standard and available features hold steady across these two model years. The features include premium cabin materials, a 12.3-inch display screen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, a cloud-based navigation system, auto climate management, an iDrive 7.0 system, a premium sound system, and more.
